OVER ONE THOUSAND PEOPLE EXPECTED FOR MILLION MARIJUANA MARCH
On Saturday 7 May, organisers expect over 1,000 people to attend the Cardiff leg of the Million Marijuana March.
Talks are ongoing with Cardiff Council, but the route is expected to start in Cathays Park, with a march through the city centre, covering the Hayes, St Mary’s Street and a section of Queen Street. The march will start at 13.30, returning to either City Hall or the Crown Court at around 14.45 for speeches.
The Million Marijuana March is an annual event, which runs on the first Saturday in May. Worldwide, over 300 cities will take part.
Last year, 500 people in Cardiff took to the streets for the event, and this year, 1,300 people have confirmed their attendance on Facebook.
Speakers on the day will be Rhys Morgan, Levent Akbulut of Students For Sensible Drug Policy and Clark French of Action4MS, as well as possible other anecdotal speakers.
Campaigner Rhys Morgan said: “We expect this year’s event to be twice as big as last year’s. The voice of over 1,000 people simply cannot be ignored. We hope the event will engage people into the legalise cannabis debate, and raise awareness of our campaign”.
