BENNINGTON — Police said a Pownal man they charged with marijuana cultivation told them he was not ashamed to be growing it.
Philip R. Hollendonner, 51, of Kings Way, pleaded not guilty Monday in Vermont Superior Court to felony counts of marijuana possession, and marijuana cultivation.
He was released on conditions.
According to an affidavit by Vermont State Trooper Elliot Justinger, on Aug. 9 he was told by a male that Hollendonner was growing a number of marijuana plants on his property in Pownal in a cinder block building. The man said Hollendonner also has processed marijuana and has bragged about selling it.
Justinger said he obtained a search warrant for Hollendonner’s property, and spoke to Hollendonner himself who said he was growing marijuana and was not ashamed to be doing so. According to Justinger, 14 mature marijuana plants were found in addition to a bag containing 13 ounces of marijuana.
Police said Hollendonner was convicted of marijuana cultivation in 2005, and marijuana possession in 2003.
