LA JOYA — La Joya police arrested a father and son after they allegedly tried to smuggle marijuana from Starr County to McAllen.
Police told Action 4 News the arrested happened Wednesday morning along U.S. Expressway 83 near the Rancho Heights subdivision.
A police officer pulled a vehichle over but the two men inside took off.
The teen passenger was caught at
the scene while police later located the driver, who was identified as the boy’s father.
La Joya police said they found 400 pounds of marijuana inside the vehicle.
The father told investigators he was offered $600 dollars to transport the drugs from Starr County to McAllen.
