Thank you . . . for contacting me regarding your support for the Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views with me.
As you may know, this legislation was introduced by Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) on April 2, 2009. This bill would amend the Controlled Substances Act to declassify hemp from the definition of marijuana. The bill would also allow states to regulate the growth and use of industrial hemp. Currently, this bill is pending before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, as well as the House Committee on the Judiciary. I will keep your position on this bill in mind as it moves through the legislative process.
Thank you again for contacting me. Please continue to keep me informed about issues of concern to you and your family.
