Three Spanish nationals who had each swallowed around a kilo of hashish were arrested as they stepped off the ferry from Morocco to Gibraltar on Sunday night.
Officers from HM Customs (Gibraltar) became suspicious and detained the three Seville residents, who were later charged for smuggling drugs into Gibraltar.
Each had allegedly swallowed a number of pellets of hashish in order to sneak them through the border.
Barbara Muñoz Sanchez, 27, was charged with possession and importation of 1.1 kilograms of cannabis resin.
Guillermo Monge Perez, 33, was charged with possession and importation of 992 grams of cannabis resin.
Francisco Miguel Redaño Sobrino, 32, was charged with possession and importation of 1.188 kilograms of cannabis resin.
The three appeared before the Magistrates Court yesterday and were granted legal aid.
All were remanded in custody until next week.
