THOUSANDS of pounds worth of equipment has been seized as nine people were arrested in the latest drugs raid in rural North Lincolnshire.
Police swooped on a five-bedroom property in Chapel Lane, Elsham at around 2pm yesterday following intelligence connected with a series of drug seizures across the Humberside area.
A police helicopter circled the sleepy village as two police vans, four patrol cars and around ten officers stormed the property.
Eight males and one female, who are believed to have been renting the house for a round a year, were arrested after police discovered large amounts of growing equipment including chemicals, propagators and compost.
Sgt Martin Coffey, of North Lincolnshire police’s operational support unit, said: “We’re very pleased with the results of this raid and have secured a large amount of evidence including equipment and financial documentation.
“There equipment will have been worth several thousand pounds and will have certainly had the potential to grow large amounts of cannabis.
Hilary Blanchard, 53, of Church Lane said: “The lights were generally on all night and we were aware there were a lot of people living inside the house.
