SHAH ALAM, 14 Jan (Bernama) — Two Indonesian workers were sentenced to 10 years’ jail and 10 strokes of the rotan by the High Court here today for possession of 0.941kg of cannabis two years ago.
Judge Datuk Wira Mohtarudin Baki ordered the duo, Puasaruddin Pasaribu and Azhari Jamal, both 36, who pleaded guilty to a charge of drug possession, to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrest.
Puasaruddin and Azhari were arrested at a bus station along Persiaran Raja Muda, Port Klang at 6.15pm on June 9, 2008.
The police found four slabs of cannabis in a bag slung over Puasaruddin’s shoulder.
Deputy public prosecutor Rosidah Abu Bakar appeared for the prosecution while the trio were represented by lawyers, Ghazali Taib and Suzanawati Ismail.
