A GARDA search of a house that reeked of cannabis in Killavullen unearthed nine illicit cannabis plants, valued at €200 apiece.
Garda John Fleming told Mallow District Court that he searched Ales Kapek’s house at Rockforest East, Killavullen on September 28, 2008 and discovered the cannabis plants.
Mr Kapek was subsequently charged and pleaded guilty to possessing the nine cannabis plants.
Gda Fleming said he got a “strong smell of cannabis,” when the door was opened. He said inside the house there was lights and various equipment to enhance the growth of the plants.
“Mr Kapek’s said he was growing the cannabis for himself,” said Gda Fleming, who said the plants were worth €1,800. Inspector Senan Ryan said the defendant did not have any previous convictions.
Judge Michael Pattwell fined Kapek €1,250.
