DRUG dealers hoarding thousands of pounds of cannabis, cash and cocaine baffled cops by inviting them into their Bootle home.
In a bizarre series of events the pair somehow unwittingly managed to dial 999, summoning the police to their address.
Police received an abandoned 999 call on Sunday night (October 25) and sent officers to the address on Ursula Street, Bootle.
The line went dead before the caller said anything, and so officers were sent to the address at 8.50pm to make sure that no-one was in distress.
There was no answer at the terraced house when police arrived.
Fearing for the safety of the occupant the team were set to force entry to the property when the door opened.
A smell of cannabis greeted the police and they made two arrests, on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
A search of the house following those arrests revealed a stash of drugs and cash in the rear living room.
Officers came across about £2,000 in cash, a bag of white powder believed to be cocaine, and six nine-ounce bricks of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of up to £3,000.
Two men aged 27 and 29 from the Bootle area have been arrested in connection with the drugs haul.
