(AUS) Hydroponics bill set to go to Parliament

Police Minister Michael Wright says it will require dealers to face a 'fit and proper person' test, which will check for any criminal history.

"It is also well known that criminal bikie gangs and other organised criminals are involved in the hydroponic cannabis industry," he said.

"We think that with legislation like this a lot of them will have to close."

Opposition police minister David Ridgway says his party will consider the legislation, but says Mr Wright

"It just seems crazy, one of the comments I hear from police is they are burdened, excessively burdened with extra legislation," he said.
