Guy Ritchie's film adviser jailed for dealing drugs

A south London man who worked as a script adviser for Guy Ritchie's gangster movie RocknRolla has been jailed for five years for dealing more than £83,000 of cocaine and cannabis.

Michael Dehara, 57, who also appeared in the film, ran the operation from his home in Lee and also used his mother's flat as a drug store.

Southwark Crown Court was told Dehara was stopped by police leaving his mother's property in Vauxhall Street on April 16 last year.

The court was told that when asked if he had any drugs in his car, he replied: "Some Charlie, it was dumped on me."

Police found a brown shoe box containing 948g of cocaine wraps worth £54,000 in the car. They also found 43 blocks of cannabis resin with a street value of £28,000 during a search of the flat.

In addition, police found a notebook containing details of drug deals and latex gloves.

A raid on the home he shared with his girlfriend found two bars of cannabis worth almost £1,500 along with more than £3,000 described as "the proceeds of criminal activity".

Dehara pleaded guilty on the second day of the trial to four charges. One was for possessing 948g of cocaine with intent to supply while two similar counts involved quantities of cannabis resin. The fourth charge was acquiring criminal property.

The court was told Dehara, who played a chauffeur called Turbo in the film made by Madonna's ex-husband, had a drug problem in the 1980s but is now clean.

Judge John Price sentenced Dehara to three-and-a-half years for possession with intent to supply the cocaine and one-and-a-half years for possession with intent to supply the large haul of cannabis with the sentences to be served consecutively. He was also sentenced to six months for each of the other two charges with the sentences to be served concurrently.
