Man in court over three cannabis hauls
A Vietnamese man is due to appear before Carrick on Shannon District Court today in connection with the discovery of three cannabis factories in Longford and Roscommon.
Last night a man and a woman, from Vietnam and Hong Kong, appeared at a special court sitting.
They were charged with failing to have a licence to cultivate cannabis, and failing to produce adequate documentation.
Both were remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.
The second man could not be charged last night as there was no interpreter available - he is due to appear before the court again this afternoon.
Half a million euro worth of the drug, as well as growing equipment, was recovered in planned searches of houses in Roscommon and Longford on Thursday morning.
