A Kilbarrack businessman pleads guilty to possessing cannabis

A businessman who stored over €50,000 worth of cannabis to pay off debts from his cocaine use and his business partner's gambling has received an eight year sentence with two suspended.

nine bars of cannabis resinFrank Hughes (33) of St Donaghs Road Kilbarrack pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possessing 4.442 kg of cannabis at his car valeting business in the Dublin Industrial Estate, Glasnevin on May 29, 2008.

Hughes, who is married with three children, said he had run up a debt due to his cocaine addiction and his ex-business partner ran up a large debt in a casino.
