Homeless man jailed over cannabis

John Harkin, 34, was found with a block of cannabis when police carried out a bail check at a house in St Joseph's Avenue in the city in September 2007.

Harkin, who has 158 previous criminal convictions, had £1,750 pounds in cash in his pockets.

A walkie-talkie and weighting scales were also found in the house.

A homeless man has been jailed for 12 months at Londonderry Crown Court after pleading guilty to a number of drugs related offences.

Harkin was subsequently charged with supplying cannabis and possessing criminal property.
