Absolute discharge for Aberporth man caught with cannabis

A solicitor acting for a 35-year-old Aberporth man who admitted possession of cannabis told magistrates "I hope you’ll be lenient in this season of good will."

Stuart Jones, of 15 Anwylfan, Aberporth, who was represented by Kevin Williams, pleaded guilty to a tiny bit of cannabischarge of possession of 0.7 grammes of herbal cannabis, the offence committed at his home on November 25.

Mr. Williams said: "This is a very sad case. Mr. Jones has serious physical and mental health problems. He is on anti-depressants that have an adverse affect on his stomach, and cannabis helps him to sleep."

Jones, who had previous convictions, was given an absolute discharge and ordered to pay £60 costs. A destruction order was made in respect of the seized cannabis.
